WOZA – The African Surf Film by MAMI WATA

WOZA | A love declaration to the ocean

Mami Wata is the surfing brand, which sells stylish clothes, surfboards and accessories. In English, the name means nothing more than „Mother Water“. It is an African water spirit that is worshiped in many parts of the continent and is mostly female and is comparable to the shape of a mermaid. In order to make the brand known worldwide, the company has now launched a first online advertising film – and it really has it in itself.

„Woza“ (English title: „Come“) is much more  a short film than a commercial because of its duration of five minutes. He tells the story of the 22-year-old African surfer Avuyile Ndamase from Transkei in gloomy and psychedelic pictures, which the fascination of the ocean and the surfing does not let go. The outstandingly executed film is supported by the beguiling sound of the band BCUC from Soweto.
