In the last part, Optimus Prime left the earth to search for his creator. Since then, mankind and the Transformers have been in a bitter war. As a threat to unimagined proportions, the planet is made up of an unexpected group of heroes. Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Transformer Bumblebee, an English lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins) and a professor (Laura Haddock) rescue the world. In addition, there is a reunion with Transformers’s regular cast Stanley Tucci, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro. In the role of the heroine, the nickelodeon star Isabela Moner can be seen.
Over the years Michael Bays „Transformers“ series has made some changes. In the first and second part Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox played the action duo around the Autobots and their leader Optimus Prime. After a quarrel with Fox, Bay takes over the role with the underwear model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, which in „Transformers 3“ together with LaBeouf has to prevent the threatening sunset. For a long time it was said that director Michael Bay does not want to continue the series. But finally, with „Transformers 4: Era of Downfall“, he rang a revival. This time, inventor Mark Wahlberg encounters Optimus Prime and thus starts a material slaughter of unimagined proportions. Despite the different actors, the „Transformers“ films have Bays unmistakeable manuscript: he likes to let action-packed crashes! And even if the spectacular spectacles around the fighters of the giant robots sometimes overlap story and logic, the interest in the films remains unbroken. With nearly $ 4 billion in gross profit, the series is one of the ten most successful franchises of all time.
Originally it should be the last „Transformers“ part. But now there are signs that it could be the beginning of a new trilogy – that is, parts 6 and 7 are already in discussion. Michael Bay and the studio Paramount have designed something special for this. The world of „Transformers“ is to be expanded as Extended Universe in the style of DC and Marvel. For this, they have created a writers‘ room, which is usually more common in the TV world in order to make the world more complex and with a mythology to underline.
